Very little is known about the former East Arlington Volunteer Fire Company, which operated separate and apart from the Arlington Volunteer Fire Company.
The company was organized sometime in 1916, and began with a hose wagon. By September of that year the organization was still searching for a suitable lot with which to construct a fire station. Anecdotal evidence states a fire station was later completed at Carlton and Cottage Streets.
It was further reported that the second-hand hose donated to the company was unsuitable, and the company petitioned the city for 500 feet of new hose. The granting or denial of the petition is not recorded.
It was also in September of 1916, after considerable debate, that the company voted not to purchase a motorized truck, and the matter was tabled indefinitely. It is unknown if a motorized truck was purchased later.
The East Arlington Fire Company was still in existence in August of 1921.
